The road to improvement will not be an easy one for the Maryland football team.

BOSTON—Boston College is resuming its football series with Syracuse. The Eagles’ season finale will come on the road Nov. 27 and begin an eight-game series against the Orange. The schools met 45 times, including 34 straight seasons before their most recent meeting in 2004.

ANNAPOLIS — When Towson University Athletic Director Mike Hermann was hired in 2006, his first phone call was to schedule a football game with the University of Maryland, College Park.

Maryland had a lot of strikes against it late in the recruiting season. With coach Ralph Friedgen’s job security publicly questioned in November, and with his long-term future still very much in doubt, the lack of stability in the program was far from an asset as the coaching staff looked to seal the deal with top high school players.
